National Rural Health Day 2017 was a tremendous success with nationwide events, webinars and recognition by partners and the press. New activities this year included a partnership with Walk with a Doc, Twitter chats, NRHD toolkits, and a call to action to tweet #PowerofRural at 11:16 am in each time zone! The #PowerofRural generated 4.2 million impressions and over 2,000 tweets on Twitter!
NOSORH hosted three “WebSights” with speakers from Hall Render, National Rural Health Association, National Rural Health Resource Center and Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, WI. The presentations and recordings can be found here on the NOSORH website.
In addition, the 2017 Community Stars e-book was published on NRHD! The 31 inspiring individuals and organizations featured in the book were nominated by a member of their State Office of Rural Health, a community member, or peer. Each story highlights their selfless dedication to serving rural communities across the country. Thanks to all who submitted a nomination and congratulations to this year’s Stars!
As always, big thanks go to the State Offices of Rural Health and partners across the nation whose support help make NRHD a yearly success! Along with countless events promoted by national partners, forty-four State Offices have shared their NRHD activities with NOSORH, including obtaining Governor’s proclamations in 25 states, visiting community partners and providers, sending letters of appreciation to constituents, holding video and photo contests, distributing press releases, hosting rural health summits, presenting awards, and much more. If you haven’t already, please share your NRHD activities and photos with Ashley Muninger.
Mark your calendar for November 15 and start planning now for NRHD 2018!
