NOSORH committees are great focal points for engaging on many NOSORH initiatives, descriptions of all committees and contact information can be found on the NOSORH website
Awards Committee – The Awards Committee led by Sharla Allen (WY) will begin a review of the NOSORH awards program and plan for soliciting award nomination and selection in time for recognition at the NOSORH annual meeting in Portland.
Communication Committee – The Communication Committee continues to work on plans for National Rural Health Day including outreach to grant makers and other stakeholders to support the work of SORH for National Rural Health Day. A webinar and partners meeting is being planned to kickstart the activities for the fifth anniversary of National Rural Health Day.
Development Committee – The Development Committee prioritized NRHD to promote as an activity to seek support from They also reviewed a possible funding opportunity in the MACR legislation for education of small rural providers and partnerships with QIOs.
Educational Exchange Committee – The Educational Exchange Committee approved one educational exchange scholarship was approved between Wisconsin and Colorado to learn about marketing and social media outreach. The committee will meet in June to discuss educational strategy for SORH.
Executive Committee – The Executive Committee is reviewing the NOSORH bylaws to consider terms of Board members and has initiated the planning for the Nominating Committee to develop a slate of candidates for the 2016 officer positions.
FLEX Committee – The June meeting of the FLEX committee will be canceled due to the reverse site visit. During the May meeting John Packham (NV) provided a summary of the Revised State Operations Manual/Appendix W Survey Protocols for CAHs. The committee plans to continue a review of the protocols and to develop comments on the Federal Register notice regarding FLEX performance measures, due in by July 27, 2015.
Joint Committee on Rural Emergency Care – The Joint Committee on Rural Emergency Care held its first-ever Rural EMS Conference in May with over 180 attendees. During their May call, the JCREC discussed changing its meeting format to include guest topical/educational speakers every other month. The first call will likely be in June. Policy Program Monitoring Team (PPMT) – The PPMT discussed an important side-bar to the ‘Doc Fix’ bill – HR 2: Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 – “MACRA” is the extension of Medicare rural ambulance payment add-ons, including the Super-Rural differential for frontier and remote areas. These were due to expire April 1, and were saved in Section 203 of the bill. Harvey Licht reported completing the FAR impact analysis which will be reviewed on a webinar on June 30th at 3 pm ET. Harvey will continue to lead a discussion on developing comments to Secretary Burwell on alternative payment methodologies for rural areas with chairs of the Policy, Flex and PPMT committees.
TruServe Advisory Committee – The TruServe Advisory Committee conducted a recent learning community on Site Administrators’ Best Practices. Lisa Davis (PA) Gloria Verme (IA), Victoria Lanzy (MI) shared stories of how they set up TruServe and the way they implemented it with their staff. Check out their ideas by listening to the recording of the learning community.
