2022 Region B SORH Regional Partnership Meeting

Health Equity, Poverty, and Rural Resilience

The presentation includes:

1. An overview of the Prosperity Index, initially developed for USDA and now being expanded for CDC to include associations across leading causes of death and COVID-19;
2. A customized data presentation for the relevant SORH region, highlighting the inequities between the richest and poorest counties in the region, showing associations with other social determinants and health outcomes; and
3. Research conducted for CDC that highlights efforts in eastern KY that have resulted in remarkable declines in overdose mortality rates, showing that despite challenges, rural communities can leverage strengths and assets to achieve positive health outcomes.
