Supporting the Nation’s 50 State Offices of Rural Health
NOSORH was established in 1995 to assist State Offices of Rural Health (SORH) in improving access to and quality health care for nearly 61 million rural Americans. NOSORH enhances the capacity of SORH to do this by supporting the development of state and community rural health leaders; creating and facilitating state, regional, and national partnerships that foster information sharing and spur rural health-related programs/activities; and enhancing access to quality healthcare services in rural communities.
Celebrating 15 Years of National Rural Health Day
In 2026, National Rural Health Day (NRHD) celebrates 15 years of honoring the Power of Rural. Founded by NOSORH in 2011, this national observance shines a spotlight on the dedication of rural healthcare providers, State Offices of Rural Health, and partners working to address the unique healthcare needs of rural communities across America. Held each year on the third Thursday of November, NRHD celebrates the innovation, resilience, and collaboration that strengthen rural health systems and communities nationwide. This year, we are excited to celebrate on November 19, 2026.
