You are invited to participate in an upcoming series, supported by NOSORH’s Policy and Program Monitoring Team (PPMT), State Coverage Initiatives Affecting Rural Communities, on May 14th – 17th, 2018 at 3:00pm ET daily. This series is targeted at State Offices of Rural Health and others interested in State-level coverage activities impacting rural communities.

The four-part series is designed to review current changes at the State level for coverage, with a specific eye to Medicaid waivers and ACA marketplaces.

State Coverage Initiatives Affecting Rural Communities: Part 1 and 2
May 14 and 15 at 3:00pm
Presented by NOSORH subcontractor Harvey Licht, former Director of the New Mexico Office of Rural Health. Information covered in these sessions will provide a framework and background understanding related to State Medicaid initiatives and State initiatives related to the ACA marketplace.

The third and fourth parts of the series includes listening sessions with states who are currently, or will soon be, implementing changes to their ACA marketplaces and State Medicaid programs.

This session will host Paige Duhamel, Healthcare Policy Manager for the New Mexico Office of the Superintendent of Insurance, and Lori K. Wing-Heier, Director of the Alaska Division of Insurance.

State Coverage Initiatives Affecting Rural Communities: Medicaid Waivers
Thursday, May 17th at 3:00pm ET
This listening session will host Mark Fairchild, Director of Public Policy at Covering Kids and Families of Indiana, and Dustin Pugel, Policy Analyst with the Kentucky Center for Economic Policy.

 

At the conclusion of the series, participants will be able to:

  1. Explore current and proposed State Initiatives affecting Medicaid coverage.
  2. Identify State initiatives related to Medicaid coverage.
  3. Analyze the rural impact of State initiatives affecting Medicaid coverage.
